২০০৩ সালের এপ্রিল মাস থেকে সর্বকালের সেরা ১০০ টি উপন্যাস নির্বাচিত করার জন্য বিবিসি জরিপ শুরু করে। প্রায় সাড়ে সাত লাখ ভোট আসে সর্বকালের সেরা ১০০ টি উপন্যাস নির্বাচনের জন্য। নিচে এগুলোর নাম দেওয়া হলোঃ

অবশেষে ১৭০০ সালে গোটা জার্মানিতে চালু হলো এই নতুন ক্যালেন্ডার। ইংরেজরা আরো এক কাঠি সরেস। তারা ১৭৫২ সালে পার্লামেন্টে আইন পাস করে গ্রেগরিয়ান ক্যালেন্ডার গ্রহণ করে। তাই এ ক্যালেন্ডারকে কোনোমতেই ইংরেজি ক্যালেন্ডার বলা যায় না। আন্তর্জাতিকভাবে বহু দেশে গৃহীত হওয়ার ফলে এর গুরুত্ব, মর্যাদা ও ব্যাপ্তি বেড়েছে। এ ক্যালেন্ডারকে রোমান বা গ্রেগরিয়ান ক্যালেন্ডার বলা যায়। একে ইংরেজি ক্যালেন্ডার বা এর প্রথম দিনকে ইংরেজি নববর্ষ বলা অজ্ঞতার পরিচায়ক। আর আজ তাই রোমান ক্যালেন্ডারের নববর্ষ বা আন্তর্জাতিক নববর্ষ।
